The "Station Fire" occurred in the Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles in August of 2009.  It consumed over 160,000 acres or about 250 square miles, much of it brushlands that burned very rapidly, but including substational areas of tthe evergreen forest.  Two fire fighters lost their lives, and the fire destroyed 89 residences and 22 commercial buildings.    In my photos, I have tried to capture the surreal beauty of the barren landscape, the stark graphic character of the leafless trees and the almost capricious way the fire would burn one group of trees, but leave others untouched just 10 yards away.
